As we prepare for 2020, I am reminiscing about a fun-filled day, not long ago. I spent the day at Aegis Comics of Alaska here in Wasilla. They celebrated ComicFest 2019 at their store, where they give away a free comic to each person that comes into the store that day. Since it’s also close to Halloween, if people dressed up in costume, they could get 2 comics for free! It was fun to see the different costumes that people came dressed in. Also, to see the number of people arriving to get a free comic, they were also there to purchase additional comics. Their desire to read creative literature is so exciting to see. In a day of digital content, it is fantastic to see readers in-store to get their hands on comics and reading material that doesn't require a screen.
While adults tend to collect and read a lot of the materials, it’s also great for the kids as well. As I briefly mentioned about our digital age, today's generation is full of games and in some cases, reading isn't engaging enough for some, comics give a great outlet and interest into reading and makes reading fun. It makes reading more engaging to them to see and follow along with their favorite characters lives and adventures. Comics make reading fun. Aegis Comics makes looking for comics fun!

I will actually go into their shop at times just to talk and spend time with them and end up leaving with a feeling of inspiration and creativity that I can apply towards a future creative photoshoot.

They have been outgrowing their shop space so rapidly that they are opening up more floor space and will soon have a much larger store to offer you more material and a much-anticipated experience with more exciting features, including a comic speakeasy room!
